Perry briefly studied\u00a0Italian opera\u00a0at the\u00a0Music Academy of the Westin Santa Barbara.\u00a0At 15, her singing caught the attention of rock veterans from\u00a0Nashville, Tennessee, who brought her there to improve her writing skills.\u00a0In Nashville, she started recording\u00a0demos\u00a0and learned how to write songs and play guitar.\u00a0After signing with\u00a0Red Hill Records, Perry recorded her debut album, a gospel record titled\u00a0<i>Katy Hudson<\/i>.
